SOFIA
SOcial health Frailty as determinants of Inequality in Ageing
Scientific Responsible for the Department: Giovanna Boccuzzo
Funder: MUR - PRIN 2020
Objectives: In addressing the challenges posed by an aging population, SOFIA project brings together several Italian universities to investigate a key factor: frailty, understood as the greater vulnerability of older individuals. The goal is to propose measures of frailty in various domains (e.g., physical frailty, social frailty) and, using different types of data (e.g., administrative and survey data), to understand how frailty is related to health and socio-economic factors. By uncovering these connections, we can develop more effective policies to support an increasingly elderly population. The project also seeks to predict regional population trends based on demographic, socio-economic, and health variables. Our overall mission is, therefore, to improve the quality of life for elderly people and play a key role in promoting a healthier and more sustainable society.
